Adam Afriyie grew up in South London and attended Addey and Stanhope school in New Cross before gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from Imperial College (Wye). He was first elected as Conservative Member of Parliament for Windsor, U.K., in 2005. He was Shadow Minister for Science and Innovation from 2007 to 2010 and now chairs the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Financial Technology, and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Freedom of Speech. He is a vice chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Vaping.
