A global legal and compliance industry expert, and currently an independent consultant/principal at, Ms. Kovacevic’s experience comprises leading senior legal and regulatory positions at industry giants, including Philip Morris International and Lorillard. While at Lorillard, her team obtained the first ever premarket authorization for a tobacco product issued by the FDA under the Tobacco Control Act (2013). At Nicopure Labs as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer she spearheaded the Nicopure Labs LLC v. FDA et al. litigation against the FDA challenging the so-called “deeming rule” and the First Amendment constraints on freedom of commercial speech as applied to electronic cigarettes. Prior to joining Lorillard she was a partner at Patton Boggs.

Her expertise includes corporate law and M&A, global e-cigarette and tobacco regulation, including PMTA and TPD filings, U.S. and global cannabis/CBD regulation, compliance and all legal and business issues impacting multinational corporations. A former member of the Vapor Technology Association board, she currently serves the advisory board of the Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum and is a member of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco. Ms. Kovacevic is an attorney admitted to practice in New York, before the U.S. Tax Court and before the Supreme Court of the United States. She holds a Juris Doctor (doctor of law) degree from Columbia Law School in New York, an M.A. in Philology and has completed the Harvard Business School “Corporate Leader” executive education program.
