tobacco sector analyst
Erik Bloomquist, a chartered financial analyst, has covered and worked in global tobacco for 15 years and global consumer staples for 20 years. Most recently, he has consulted with alternative nicotine delivery companies and investment managers.
While working for investment banks, Bloomquist consistently attained top rankings in surveys, including the European Extel and Institutional Investor All-Europe surveys at J.P. Morgan and Berenberg.
While leading the tobacco team at J.P. Morgan, he was the first to cover tobacco as a global sector, which has now become the preferred approach. As a result, he uniquely was concurrently top ranked for tobacco in the European, U.S. and Japanese Institutional Investor surveys.
His interests include tobacco harm reduction/reduced-risk products, implications and comparative effects of regulation, and the Japanese tobacco market.
Bloomquist completed a finance and investment management Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison and a Master of Arts degree in international political economy from the Henry M. Jackson School at the University of Washington.
