Christie Y. Powell holds the position of master scientist within the next-generation products submissions and engagement group in the scientific and regulatory affairs department at RAI Services Co. (RAIS). Powell is responsible for the organization and management of work streams critical to the generation and submission of new tobacco product applications, including premarket tobacco product applications and modified-risk tobacco product applications. In addition, Powell has been instrumental in developing other types of tobacco product submissions (e.g., regular substantial equivalence reports and exemptions from substantial equivalence requests) as well as environmental assessments across application types and product categories. Prior to joining RAIS, Powell worked for a healthcare consulting firm as a business consultant. She earned her Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology from Wake Forest School of Medicine and her Master of Business Administration degree from Wake Forest University.
